Using YouTube Ads to Scale Growth for an Ecommerce Skincare Company

The Challenge

Boom by Cindy Joseph is a pro-age cosmetic and skincare line for women of every generation.  Their goal is to take their pro-women, pro-age, pro-health message to women who want simple, effective skincare.  The brand is all about helping women look their best at 50, 60, 70 and beyond.

The Approach

The Boom creative team, along with input from our agency team, created videos that featured real skincare customer testimonials, product demonstrations, and told the story of  the company co-founder, Cindy Joseph, who became a model after the age of 50 before inventing this revolutionary line of skincare products.  We then took those videos and ran TrueView for Action campaigns targeting Custom Intent, Custom Affinity and Similar Audiences.  Then we built out several layers of remarketing campaigns using the Google Display Network and TrueView for Shopping ads on YouTube.  We also ran search and shopping campaigns targeting video viewers.  We put all of this together using portfolio targets with different CPA goals at the Awareness, Consideration, Purchase and Loyalty stages of the funnel.

YouTube has grown from non-existence to one of our biggest and best performing channels for generating new customers. Our agency has been instrumental in making this happen.

The Results

After running our YouTube campaigns for four months we saw a 116% increase in conversion value from our remarketing campaigns.  Branded Search and Shopping campaign volume grew 60% without increasing bids.  Total Sales volume from Google and YouTube campaigns grew 193% year-over-year mostly driven by the YouTube Campaigns. Total online sales for the client were up 30%  year-over-year for the 4-month period measured.  Sales growth had been pretty flat when looking at the same four month period from 2017 to 2018.  The client was very pleased with the results and continues to invest in YouTube ads.
